Hello,

Love the show !!! ( Seen it 3 times and will see it for the 4th time next Tuesday, crazy, I know…)

Just wondering what will be next for the boyz once the show close on the 29th? (So sad…)

Matthew

Hey Girl!

It’s sad indeed, but if you keep prayin’ real hard, maybe the boyz will swing back through Vancouver again someday.

Just rest assured that when the boyz leave Vancouver, they plan on savin’ more and more soulz. And take up pottery.

Hi Matthew, as much as I love you – you being the leader of the band and all – I would really like to know if Abraham is still single and if he is mastering his own fate as well as you do.

Hi!
I was just wondering if there was anywhere that I could get the music from your show! I saw it in July, and I thought it was really amazing! I tried looking for the music, but all the songs I found were from a different group. I want your versions of the songs though for my iPod. How can I get them?

3 08 2009
Matthew

Yo, J.

The boyz in Vancouver haven’t recorded a soundtrack for the Arts Club production of Altar Boyz. The next best thing is the Off-Broadway soundtrack available in iTunes or Amazon.

We’ll let you know if the VanBoyz do a recording.

J

Thanks! I will check out the versions on iTunes, but definitely tell us if you record a soundtrack! Would love to have it! :D

Near the begining of the show when the Soul Sensor DX12 first reads the number of burden souls you guys always say that the number is highier than what you had in Surrey. I’ve seen the show 3 times, so far, and I always wonder…What did you say when you where in Surrey?

16 07 2009
Matthew

Great question, Altarholic.

Before the Soul Sensor nearly exploded in Surrey, the boyz saw their largest number on the DX-12 in Vegas. They don’t call it sin city for nuthin’, yo.

Are you guys making fun of Christ or Christians?

8 07 2009
Matthew

We understand your concerns, Stephanie, but rest assured we’re being very nice. We’ve heard from fanz who are Christian, Episcopalian, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant and even Atheists who have all thoroughly enjoyed “Altar Boyz.”

The boyz are very serious about spreading the word through pop music, and hope to cleanse your soul!!

We’ve even got a review from the BC CATHOLIC. Read it here.

How much hair product do you use in a week? cuz you all look so phyyyne!

8 07 2009
Matthew

Woah girl, this is a touchy subject. The Arts Club Theatre Company could very well end up in the poor house thanks to the mane requirements of the boyz. Hairspray, fibre gum, blow dryers, gel, straightening irons, blondissima… the list of toxins go on and on.

I think we’ll actually dedicate a post or two to your question… stay tuned, girl!

Do da boyz meet lotz girlz @ the churchez on Sundays?

4 07 2009
Matthew

Meeting girlz @ the Churchez is one of the reason Juan got into this business.

28 06 2009
Jon

If it is sinful to work on the Sabbath, why do y’all perform on Sundays?

Just curious (saw the show on Thursday and was BLOWN AWAY :-O)…

29 06 2009
Matthew

Hey Jon!

Glad you had a blast, we did too!
As for working on Sundays, the good Lord understands the need to pay one’s billz, yo, so as long as you ask forgiveness before, during and after a shift of work on Sundays, you should be all good.
The boyz do, however, take Sundays off… the one and only day of the week they don’t spend saving souls. We like to spend our Sundays travelling around to as many churchez as possible to see how Vancouver raises it’s own praise. Some days, we split up to cover 5 times as many churchez, then meet back to compare notez. It’s like going to Playland, but with more Jesus.

One of you beautiful Altar Boyz must have some grass roots..
So when is an AB. show coming ??

Peace Out!

Altar Girl

Hey Boyz!
My best friend is celebrating her birthday in the best way possible, by bringing a bunch of us to see your show! It’s our second time seeing it (we were saved in Coquitlam, too, dog) and she said that the only thing that could make an awesome day better would be if Matthew would pick her to sing to. Is there any strategy for getting to be that lucky girl, or is it just by chance? It would totally make her day. “Something About You” gets her teary every time she listens to it on her iPod…
Thanks, Boyz! Keep raisin’ the praise!

Matthew

Ah yes! You’re talking about our “Meet the Altar Boyz” contest!

Here’s how to win: 1). Sit on the aisle. 2). Pray. 3). Maybe give Matthew a wink and a smile to show him how much you’re into him. And by him, we mean Jesus.

What’s everyone’s favorite/most inspiring psalm?

8 05 2009
Matthew

Great question, Danielle!

I can only speak for myself, but I think psalm 66 is pretty great! Here is my fave line!

“Come, and see God’s deeds—
awesome work on behalf of the children of men. ”

They used the word AWESOME in there!!!!!

I would like to answer Vanessa’s question from January 12th. First of all, I doubt you’re a true Christian from the tone of your comment after your silly little question. visit this link. http://www.vatican.va/archive/catechism/p123a9p4.htm
and scroll down to #899. In summary, any promotion thru word ( or in this case, song) of God or Christ, is a normal act of a good Christian.

And in my own words… start up your own group and make it all girls… if that be your will.

Sincerely with the love of Christ himself,
Your christian friend,
Thane

Matthew

Woah, dog, you’re down with the good word from the Pope! But check that comment, homes… no question to the boyz is silly.

Head to the Confessionz page to ask for forgiveness for being so cold, yo.

One Little Girl

I have a question about confession. What do you confess on days when you have had a pretty normal day, the kind where you go to work (or rehersal) and are nice to people and do your job as you should, then go home, eat, maybe read the scriptures ;) and go to bed? Nothing bad, just being a good person.

8 05 2009
Matthew

Girl, we haven’t checked your Outlook for a full list of daily activities, but the bad guy downstairs could certainly be temptin’ you with sin all over the place. Double check the ten commandments and cross reference that with your schedule. I’m sure you’ll find something to confess.

Also, it’s a sin to misspell rehearsal.

12 01 2009
Vanessa

My question is, why are there no Altar Girlz? It’s like, post Vatican II now dudes.

8 05 2009
Matthew

Juan has been asking this question for ages.

We do have a couple of Altar Girlz, actually. Look for Rachel every night onstage. She’s the one with the fog machine.

Sara Jeanne Hosie is our other Altar Girl, a master of dance movez. Check out her website here.

Andrew

Matthew is the tough one right? Do you all pray together before every performance like madonna does at her shows?

8 05 2009
Matthew

Matthew will be the first one to tell you he’s a lover, not a fighter. However, after reading your question, Matthew did feel the Lord encourage him to do a couple more push-ups.

As for for praying before concerts, of course, dawg! The good lord charged the boyz to spread his word with sweet pop music, so they always check in with him before, during and after the show to make sure they’re servin’ it up right.

We look forward to cleansing your soul, Andrew!

Chloe

Are you guys all from Vancouver? Where have you been hiding!!? Can’t wait for the show Jan 19!

8 05 2009
Matthew

Hey Chloe! Us boyz all come from small towns in the midwestern United States. Except Mark, who hails from West Hollywood’s Christian district. The district consists of Mark’s home.

Hey Altar Boyz, I was wondering which one of you is the best dancer? Choreography is so important these days.

8 05 2009
Matthew

Choreo is a must for boy bands, girl! Mark is our choreographer and does a pretty dope job of keepin’ our feet movin’ to the hot beats.

As for the best dancer in the group, there is a bit of a rivalry between Luke and Juan. These two boyz love tryin’ to serve it up in the others grill… even during the show.

7 01 2009
Mike

Tell me, Altar Boyz, what’s the hardest thing about going on tour?

8 05 2009
Matthew

Great question, dawg. Some bands will tell you it’s life on the road, living out of a suitcase, too far from the ones you love. Not the Altar Boyz, though!

It’s the pews.

Ya know how it can be hard to sleep in hotel beds cuz your not used to them? That’s how we feel in churches out on the road. Yo, it can be real tough to give the lord your undivided attention when he’s sittin’ your rear on ergonomically criminal pews.

But we don’t like to complain, homes. Having sore lumbar is the least we can do for the Big Guy.

Sarah Potter

The boyz are cute!! Are any of you single and looking for a nice BC girl?!

8 05 2009
Matthew

Juan would like to personally invite you to see the Altar Boyz and visit him backstage.

23 12 2008
Bryce

What are the boys’ favourite movies?

8 05 2009
Matthew

Wow, we were just picking out DVD’s for the tour when we read your question, Bryce. Here’s what has made it so far, dawg.

*
o The Passion of the Christ (and lots of kleenex, cuz Mark always cries during this one. He apparently has some allergies.)
o Jesus Christ Superstar!
o Juan brings along the entire Antonio Banderas collection.
o The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (A reminder of what not to do.)
o Fiddler on the Roof (for Abe!)

Tell us about the movies that make your soul feel like a Hollywood star!

8 07 2009
Ricky

Here are some more good movies to add to your list, Altar Boyz:

Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Last Temptation of Christ, King of Kings, The Nativity Story, The Miracle Maker, The Gospel of Matthew, The Ten Commandments, The Prince of Egypt, Joseph and the Amazing Techicolour Dreamcoat, Godspell, etc..
